This morning I was talking with the Lord to begin my sabbath time with Him. I won’t bore you with the discussion, as it always wanders a lot. But eventually I got back to my frustration about the inadequacy of the communication.
I long to talk with Him clearly
I’ve come to understand that this frustration will not be resolved until we get the mental upgrade in our new bodies in the heavens. Anyway, in the process of all of this, I asked the Lord, “What do you get out of all of this?”
“I love the little things you come up with,” He gave that little chuckle He has.
“But you know all things,” I responded.
“No, that’s one of the ways you were made in my image. The creative ideas you produce could not have come from me or anyone else.”
It was like a little flash bulb went off over my head (just a little one). “So, you’re telling me that those spontaneous inspirations aren’t always from you?” I was almost stammering by this time.
“Right! Many of those flashes of inspiration come from the Spirit. But for people like you, who try to earn your living with your creativity, some of them are simply produced by your mind empowered by your spirit.”
“So, they’re new to you also?” I was setting excited now.
“Yes, but I’m aware of them before you are. Often, you miss the ideas or shut them down.”
DING! “Is that why some people don’t seem to be creative at all?” It seemed incredible to me that it could be this simple.
His quiet voice eased out, “The enemy’s system has most people in a place where they automatically shut down all those ideas, or ignore them.”
I sat there momentarily overwhelmed by the beauty and sadness.
But there’s more to this…
As we continued the conversation, I came ’round to a common wondering of mine. How does He keep all of this together?
He made it clear that He loves all those little creative things we come up with—that they are one of the things which make each of us unique.
Angels and demons have no creativity. They do what they’re told, though rebellion is possible [no, I have no clue how that works]. But, they do not have the complex personalities we do, because that spark of the creative is not possible to them. We, as humans, surprise them all the time. They’re very smart, but they’re like an extremely powerful computer. They can figure things out exceedingly quickly. But they cannot make intuitive leaps.
Then I asked, “How do you communicate with all of us simultanously?”
“That’s easy,” He says.
“What’s in it for you?” I felt like I was on the edge of something big. “How do you keep track of all the creative bursts, and everything else?”
“I love all of you immensely, and the complexity of it all is great fun.”
I could sense His joy, a little. He gave me a glimpse of the pleasure He found in us, created beings with our own perspectives.
Will we be creative in heaven?
I got no definite answer to that. My hope has always been that I will get to be creative in Heaven—producing things for everyone to enjoy, especially Jesus. This morning my hopes were given a big boost.
